Returning to Barnsley Academy this May

This May, I’m really pleased to be heading back to Barnsley Academy for another full day of hands-on anatomy teaching.

They’ve secured their place early with a fixed-date booking, locking in a dedicated workshop day that fits perfectly into their GCSE teaching schedule, something more schools are choosing to do as demand continues to grow.

A Focus on GCSE: Exploring Anatomy

For this visit, Barnsley Academy has booked the GCSE Exploring Anatomy Workshop, a session specifically designed to bring key curriculum topics to life in a way that textbooks simply can’t.

Students will:

  • Explore real anatomical specimens in a structured, guided environment

  • Reinforce core GCSE topics such as organ systems, structure and function

  • Develop a deeper understanding of how anatomy links to physiology

  • Engage with content that supports progression into A-Level biology and healthcare pathways

The dissection activities are aligned to the curriculum ensuring the experience is both impactful and appropriate for the classroom setting.

Why Schools Are Booking Fixed Dates

Barnsley Academy chose to secure their workshop date in advance, guaranteeing availability at a time that works best for both staff and students.

This approach offers:

  • Certainty in an already busy school calendar

  • The ability to plan around key GCSE teaching points or revision periods

  • A smoother experience for departments organising multiple classes across the day

With many schools now booking months ahead, fixed-date bookings are quickly becoming the preferred option.

Looking Ahead

It’s always a privilege to return to schools that value high-quality, hands-on science education, and I’m looking forward to working with the students and staff at Barnsley Academy  again this May.

If you’re considering bringing anatomy workshops into your school, early booking is strongly recommended, particularly if you’re looking to secure specific dates within the academic year.
