Who is it for?

The UNDERGRAD ANATOMY event is designed specifically for first, second and third year cohorts studying towards University degrees which have a module of Anatomy & Physiology


This is a rigorously academic event experience covering the main concepts relevant to human anatomy in a practical capacity. Designed to reinforce lectures, link theory to practice and to boost confidence. Course leaders frequently feedback overwhelmingly positive responses from students making it a popular offering on the undergraduate programme.

How long does it take?

There is 4 hours of content delivered in two parts separated by a 45 minute break, start times are flexible around your proposed event format.

NAVIGATING THE HUMAN BODY

  • Working with biohazards

  • Aseptic technique

  • History of anatomy, UK laws

  • Interpreting 3D specimens

  • The anatomical position and its application in medicine and study

  • Interpreting anatomical diagrams, models and medical imaging

THE CRANIUM

  • Structure of the cranium

  • Brain anatomy and structure

  • Lobes of the brain

  • Full brain dissection

  • Stroke and cranial trauma, hepatoma basics, bleeds and clinical imaging

  • Full spinal cord dissection

  • Cranial meninges 

  • Cerebral spinal fluid & ventricles

  • Optic nerve examination

  • Eye dissection, lens, retina and humorous

THE THORAX

  • The respiratory system

  • Ventilation & gas exchange 

  • Larynx & tracheal dissection

  • Lung dissection

  • Effect of smoking & vaping

  • Pleural membranes

  • Pleural space & pneumothorax

  • Pathology dissection of heart

  • Valves and chambers

  • Murmers

  • Cardiac tampondade

  • ECG interpretation

THE ABDOMEN

  • Oesophagus examination

  • Stomach dissection

  • Gastric reflux

  • Liver & Gall Bladder dissection

  • Neutralisation, Brunners glands

  • Duodenum, Jejenum, Illiium

  • Appendix and large intestine

  • Defecation

  • IBS & Crohn's disease

EVENT SPECIFIC INFORMATION

For up to 100 student participants

For this event to take place at your university we require the following:

Site access from 2 hours prior to proposed start time to unload and set up

A large gym or hall space with a hard floor

A projector or large screen capable of receiving a HDMI input

60 seats and 15 tables

A power socket

Access to a sink area (this can be in another room)

A nominated first aider

Your event with us includes:

​

  • DBS checked qualified human anatomist Sam Piri QTS

  • Sam's DBS technician to support the event delivery

  • Pop up Dissection Lab installation

  • All porcine dissection specimens, Ovine available by request

  • All dissection equipment

  • PPE, aprons and disposables

  • Printed colour CPD certificate of participation

You will need to:

​​

  • Arrange for your site team to set the chairs and tables up as per the floor plan the evening before the event

  • Ensure that the event space is suitable and meets the guidance: a large flat gym or hall, no carpet, has a screen with a HDMI input, is step free or there is a lift

  • Arrange for a skip or bin to be made available for all event waste

​

  • Event price £1800 for 100 students
