Recently we had the pleasure of delivering a Premed Anatomy Event at Mayfield School in North London, welcoming a fantastic group of students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, healthcare, and biomedical sciences.
The session is linked to the main A Level, T Level & BTEC specifications and gives students a real insight into anatomy and medical education, helping them understand what studying medicine is actually like beyond what they see in textbooks or the classroom.

Bringing Anatomy to Life
During the event, students were introduced to the core principles of human anatomy and the way it is taught in medical schools across the UK.
Rather than relying purely on diagrams, the session focused on visual, real-world learning, allowing students to see how organs, tissues, and anatomical structures appear in reality. This helps students understand:
How structures relate to one another inside the body
Why anatomy is fundamental to clinical practice
How medical students learn anatomy during their training
Students explored key anatomical systems including the brain, thoracic cavity, cardiovascular structures, and abdominal organs, while discussing how these structures relate to real clinical scenarios.

Understanding the Journey into Medicine
Alongside the anatomy teaching, the session also focused on what it actually means to study medicine.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss:
What medical school is like
The skills required to become a doctor
The realities of medical training
The wide range of careers within healthcare
These discussions help students gain a clearer picture of the path into medicine and the dedication required to pursue it.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals
It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and curiosity from the students at Mayfield School. Their engagement and thoughtful questions showed a genuine interest in pursuing careers that make a difference to people's lives.
Events like this aim to bridge the gap between school science and real-world medicine, helping students understand what the study of medicine truly involves.

Thank You to Mayfield School
A huge thank you to the staff and students at Mayfield School for their warm welcome and excellent participation throughout the event. It was a pleasure to work with such an engaged group of future healthcare professionals all of whom received a certificate to take away. A fantastic resource to structure a personal statement around.
