10 Years Strong: Queen Mary College Leads the Way in Hands-On Science Education

This week marks a milestone I’m incredibly proud of — Queen Mary College has booked me to return as The Dissection Guy to work with their students personally for the 10th year.
A decade of trust. A decade of unforgettable science. A decade of giving students an experience that genuinely sets them apart.
For any teacher wondering whether to host an event at your school or college, let me tell you why Queen Mary has made it part of their science calendar.
From Textbook to Tactile: Why It Works
Let’s be honest, applying to medicine is fiercely competitive. Thousands of students have the grades. What makes a candidate stand out is curiosity, confidence, and real-world context. That’s exactly what I deliver.
My live dissection events don’t just show students anatomical structure, I walk them through real clinical reasoning. I talk about pathology, trauma, surgical intervention, forensic techniques, and diagnostics. I take what’s in the textbook and layer it with relevance, emotion, and storytelling.
It sticks.
For Queen Mary College students, it’s become more than an event, it’s a rite of passage. Something that ignites their UCAS personal statements and often gives them an edge in interviews. Over the years, we’ve had feedback from admissions tutors who’ve said, “We remember your student they talked about that dissection event.”
A Safe, Ethical, Educational Experience
Everything I do is grounded in science, ethics, and educational value. I only use hand prepared specimens for my events, each one skillfully prepared for examination by me and my 15 years of experience. Each one forms to centre of my clinical dissection experience without crossing ethical boundaries.
Your students won’t just remember it, they’ll refer back to it in their OSCEs and beyond.
Empowering Teachers to Do More
What Queen Mary College has consistently shown is that investing in these kinds of experiences pays off. Their students are confident, engaged, and often better prepared for what lies ahead in medical or biomedical science pathways.
Teachers tell me it re-energises their classrooms. That their students return buzzing with questions. That it’s helped bridge the gap between school and real-world science.
If you’re an A-level biology or health sciences teacher looking to inspire your next cohort then I would love to work with you. I will deliver something they’ll never forget.
To Marcus and the team at Queen Mary College: Thank You!
To all of the incredible teaching team at Queen Mary, thank you for a decade of support, trust, and belief in what I do. You’ve led by example, and your students have benefited year after year.
Here’s to the next 10!
